This preview does not represent a real business, completed scan, ranking forecast, or market benchmark. A live report is created only after you submit the form below.
What the scanner measures
The scanner fetches one public HTML pageand applies the same 23 checks every time. It reads localized titles, descriptions, headings and content. It looks for LocalBusiness structured data. It looks for visible business-name, phone and city text. It looks for map, profile, directory and social links, plus review-related text. It also reads basic page tags such as HTTPS, viewport, canonical and social metadata. Four conversion checks look for online booking or ordering, a booking call to action, a new-customer offer, and a lead form.
Measured page evidence
Findings report only what the fetched HTML and final URL contain at scan time. Redirect destinations are shown in the result.
Generated planning prompts
Keyword patterns and the directory checklist are generated from your city and industry. They are prompts, not measurements. They do not measure search volume, rankings, listing ownership, or how consistent your citations are.
How the 0-100 score is calculated
Each check has an internal point weight. A pass earns all of that check's points, a warning earns half, and a fail earns zero. Each category is normalized to 0-100, then combined with these fixed category weights:
- On-site local SEO: 25%
- Website business signals: 22%
- Conversion and booking: 15%
- On-page directory and review signals: 13%
- Local content patterns: 13%
- Technical readiness: 12%
Grades are A at 90-100, B at 80-89, C at 65-79, D at 50-64, and F below 50. Up to six fixes are ordered by check weight, fail/warning status, and a fixed implementation-effort estimate. The score is a prioritization heuristic, not a Google score, ranking forecast, or performance guarantee.
What this tool does not verify
The scanner never logs in to anything. It does not query Google Business Profile, directory accounts, review platforms, rank trackers, backlink indexes, field-performance data, or page-speed services. So it cannot confirm listing ownership. It cannot check NAP consistency across the web, review volume or recency, rankings, backlinks, Core Web Vitals, or AI-search citations. Check those sources yourself before you make business decisions.
Submitted values and the fetched page are used to build the response. Codivox does not set out to keep a saved audit-result record. But query-string setup links can enter browser history, and request metadata may be retained by hosting, CDN, security, or analytics systems. See theprivacy policy.
A copied setup link contains the business, city, website and industry values. Opening it runs a fresh scan; it does not load a saved score or findings. Use Print or Save as PDFfor a point-in-time report.
How to do a local SEO audit (step by step)
Use the scanner for one page, then work through these seven manual steps to cover sources the automated result cannot access:
- Scan your website signals.Run your homepage and top service pages through the audit above to score localized titles, H1s, LocalBusiness schema, NAP, and click-to-call links.
- Audit your Google Business Profile.Check that it is claimed and complete: the right primary category, correct hours, fresh photos, services, and a keyword-rich description.
- Verify NAP consistency everywhere.Your Name, Address, and Phone must be identical - down to the punctuation - across your site, GBP, and every directory.
- Check your directory citations.Make sure you're listed on Google, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Facebook, and the directories specific to your industry.
- Review your review profile.Look at review volume, average rating, recency, and your response rate on Google and third-party sites.
- Evaluate local content and keywords.Confirm you target "[service] in [city]" and "near me" queries with dedicated service-area pages and genuine local content.
- Prioritize and fix the biggest gaps.Work through the scanner's website fixes first. Then rank the outside GBP, listing, review, ranking, backlink, and performance work, using evidence from those systems.
Why local SEO needs more than a page scan
Local visibility depends on evidence spread across your site, Google Business Profile, third-party listings, review systems, links, and the search results themselves. A page scan is good at catching gaps in how a page is built. It cannot see the whole system.
Treat this result as a website QA snapshot. Google ranks on relevance, distance, and prominence. Confirm those three with direct profile data, listing checks, rank tracking, review evidence, backlink research, and speed testing before you set priorities.
Evidence to review manually
Use these sources alongside the automated page result. Their data is not included in the score:
- Google Business Profile - who owns it, plus categories, services, hours, photos, and public status (GBP help center)
- Business details - is the name, address or service area, and phone the same on every listing that counts?
- Reviews - source, volume, recency, rating, content, and response practices
- Search results - what shows up in the local pack and in organic results, by query, place, and device
- Citations and links - which listings are claimed, which are duplicates, how clean the data is, plus referring domains and link quality
- Performance - page-speed evidence from the lab and the field, how usable the site is on mobile, and the paths to conversion
- Structured data - is it valid, and does it qualify under current guidance for LocalBusiness and related types?
- AI search - test real prompts yourself. Structured data does not guarantee an AI citation

Benchmark lines in your results
Six checks add a benchmark line to the result. The figures come from Codivox's 2026 audit of 624 U.S. local-business homepagesacross 10 industries: chiropractic, restaurants, med spas, veterinary, salons, auto repair, real estate, accounting, gyms, and law firms. They show how common each signal was in that sample. They are not ranking factors or a forecast.
| Signal | Homepages that had it |
|---|---|
| City or state in the title tag | 33% |
| Google Maps or Business Profile link | 55% |
| LocalBusiness structured data | 63% |
| Click-to-call (tel:) link | 71% |
| Online booking, ordering, or reservations | 85% |
| Reviews or testimonials on the page | 91% |

Automated scan versus manual audit
| Evidence | This scanner | Manual or connected audit |
|---|---|---|
| One page's HTML and final URL | Measured | Can verify across the site |
| Google Business Profile | Not accessed | Requires direct profile review |
| Listings and NAP consistency | Not verified | Requires external listing checks |
| Reviews, rankings, and backlinks | Not measured | Requires source-specific data |
| Performance and Core Web Vitals | Not tested | Requires lab and field tools |
Local SEO audit checklist (2026)
| Check | Why it matters | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile claimed | Required for Local Pack and Maps results | Critical |
| NAP consistency | Mismatches confuse Google and hurt rankings | Critical |
| LocalBusiness schema | Helps Google understand your business type and location | High |
| City in title tag & H1 | Supports clear location relevance on the page | High |
| Relevant directory listings | Verify ownership and business details on each source | High |
| Customer reviews | Review evidence should be checked on each source directly | High |
| Mobile-friendly design | Local visitors need usable mobile pages and actions | High |
| Service area pages | Capture "[service] in [city]" long-tail searches | Medium |
How to use the score responsibly
Read the score as a repeat summary of this scanner's 23 rules. It is not a measure of rankings or business performance. Compare single findings and the scan timestamp before and after a page change. Do not compare unrelated businesses as if the score were a market benchmark.
A or B means the fetched page satisfied most weighted rules. C means a mixed result. D or F means more of the scanner's rules failed or warned. None of those grades confirms Google Business Profile quality, citation consistency, review health, rankings, links, speed, or conversions.
Local SEO audit tool for agencies and freelancers
Agencies and freelancers can use the scanner as a repeat on-page QA pass. Walk clients through the method and the limitations. Then pair the result with evidence from the outside systems the scanner cannot reach.
- Pre-fill an audit by URL.Append
?business=Name&city=City&url=site.comto this page to pre-fill the fields, then copy the audit setup link. Opening it runs a fresh scan; use Print or Save as PDF to preserve the current timestamp, URL, score, and findings. - Lead with the priority fixes. The weighted fix order provides a consistent starting point, not a forecast of ranking or revenue impact.
- Use keyword and directory output as prompts.Validate every generated pattern and suggested platform before adding it to a client backlog.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a local SEO audit?
- A complete local SEO audit reviews website, Google Business Profile, citation, review, and search-visibility evidence. This automated scanner covers only one public page: localized content and tags, structured data, visible business details, supported outbound links, and basic technical tags.
- How do I improve my local SEO score?
- The most impactful improvements are: claim and optimize your Google Business Profile with accurate NAP (Name, Address, Phone), add LocalBusiness schema markup to your website, include your city name in title tags and H1 headings, get listed on major directories like Yelp and BBB, and earn customer reviews on Google.
- What directories should my business be listed on?
- Directory needs vary by business and market. Verify Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, and Bing Places where relevant, then evaluate reputable general and industry-specific platforms. The generated checklist does not prove that any listing is missing.
- How long does local SEO take to show results?
- Timelines vary by market, competition, starting point, and completed work. This scanner cannot predict ranking or revenue changes. Use it to find on-page gaps, then measure profile and organic performance separately over time.
- Does this tool check my Google Business Profile?
- This tool checks whether your website links to or references your Google Business Profile, and whether your site has the local SEO signals that complement a GBP listing. It does not directly access your GBP account. For a complete local SEO strategy, audit your GBP listing separately for completeness, photos, reviews, and category accuracy.
- Is this local SEO audit tool free?
- Yes. It is free with no signup or credit card. A website scan returns the full heuristic score, 23 checks, up to six fixes, a manual directory checklist, and generated keyword patterns. Normal hosting and abuse controls may still apply.
- How is a local SEO audit different from a regular SEO audit?
- A broad SEO audit may evaluate crawling, indexing, performance, links, and content across many pages. This scanner checks a local-search-oriented subset of one page. A complete local audit still needs direct profile, citation, review, ranking, backlink, and performance checks.
- Can agencies use this tool for clients?
- Yes. Pre-fill the business, city, website, and industry fields with query parameters. The copied URL is an audit setup link, not a saved report: opening it runs a fresh scan. Use Print or Save as PDF for a point-in-time report.
- How often should I run a local SEO audit?
- Rerun the page scan after meaningful site changes and review its timestamp and final URL. Separately check Google Business Profile, listings, reviews, rankings, backlinks, and performance on a schedule appropriate to the business.
- Will this help my business appear in AI search and AI Overviews?
- Clear business information and valid structured data can make a page easier for search systems to interpret, but this scanner does not test AI visibility and no markup can guarantee inclusion or citation in AI answers.
